Lexi Report post Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Other people have had this same problem, so unless I format my computer, I think I wont get to play anymore.. Anyway, I was afk, came back to being grued out, so I went to relog on not and it says "Can't Connect to Server". I am on Dial up, and connected through another PC for internet through a Network. That PC that can play today. I restarted that PC, and nothing changed. I used Learner's "Irma-main", it seems to work fine there, But I can't afford to pay, especially when it's probably a problem with the computers communicating... I have tried everything I can think of I restored my computer to another time Uninstalled, and reinstalled the game Went into MSconfig to disable things from loading on start up. I can't get this to work anymore, it sucks, I only got to play a day before things acted up. EDIT: Just tried another game, same problem exists, so it is definitely a Network problem, when the owner of the main pc gets off, I'll see if I can do something on that end, for now, I tried Repairing the Network, and I don't know how many times my computer has had a restart, nothing wants to work. If you can help me, that would be great, but like I said, other people have had this issue, and nothing's been solved. Lexi Report post Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Okay, it must have been something to do with the other pc that I am connected to, the person ended up messing their Partition, so they are running on a different OS now. Things are working at the moment. Probably a virus. EDIT: I still don't know a real fix to this issue, other than formatting the disk. Theryndan Report post Posted July 7, 2010 I don't see why formatting should help at all: you should instead try to find what the problem is. - Other than connecting to EL, does internet work? (can you view websites? please try to google for some random words and open a few of the websites you get - don't just check using your bookmarks) - What is your operating system? (windows Xp, Vista, ....) - If you can connect to EL from the gateway PC, but not from yours, sounds like the issue is in the connection between the 2 PCs - Start menu -> click Run -> type cmd, you should get a DOS window, there please type: -- ping game.eternal-lands.com -- tracert www.game.eternal-lands.com -- telnet game.eternal-lands.com 2000 Could you please copy&paste the output of those 3 commands here? Lexi Report post Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) I can't test anything now since the other computer is on a fresh OS and everything is working, is why I said formatting seemed like the only way. If it happens again, I will be sure and try as you said as I would like to know what the problem was. I did try to find it, but the person who owns the other computer thought he was deleting a virus when instead something important got deleted and the partition got jammed up, so he's using his other drive which has Windows 7 (he had 2 OSs). Btw, I am on XP, and so was he before his got damaged. I am sorry to have wasted anyone's time but I hope a fix can be found for other people experiencing this problem. It was definitely how the 2 computers communicated and we're thinking he got some kind of proxi/network virus. Also, How would someone copy/paste from DOS window?
